As you know, 2013 is an election year for the LASERS Board of Trustees, with
nominations of candidates having opened on March 1, 2013. There are
just a few weeks left in the nomination period.
All nomination petitions,
platforms, and photos must be received by LASERS no later than 4:30 p.m. (Central Time) on Tuesday,
July 9, 2013.
This year, five seats on
the thirteen-member Board of Trustees are up for election. Four open
seats must be filled by active members, one of which will be to fill the
remaining two years of a vacancy. One seat is up for election by retirees.
Trustees serve four-year terms unless they are filling an unexpired portion of
a term.
Nominating petitions and
the Election Schedule of Events are available on the 2013 LASERS Board Election page
on the LASERS website. A list of candidate qualifications is also included on
the election page. Please note that Trustees are required to file
financial disclosure reports with the Board of Ethics.
Voting will begin by mail,
telephone, and the Internet on Friday,
September 27, and will end on Friday, October 30, 2013.
