Civil Service Commission meeting scheduled on revised state pay plan

The state Civil Service Commission has scheduled a public hearing on a revised classified state employee pay plan.

The Civil Service Commission will conduct a March 3 public hearing on the plan. The hearing opens at 9 a.m. in the Louisiana Purchase Room of the Claiborne Building, 1201 Third St., Baton Rouge.

The commission went back to the drawing board after Gov. Bobby Jindal rejected its first attempt at a plan that tied pay to job performance ratings attained. He said it did not provide enough flexibility for agency heads to determine employee pay raises.

The new proposal establishes set percentage pay raises for employees who hit certain job ratings — 3 percent for achieves expectations, 4 percent for exceeds expectations and 5 percent for outstanding.
