In recent months state agencies have begun to prepare for the likelihood of significant reductions in force resulting from declining state revenues and the national economic downturn.

We received feedback from participants in the January 7, 2009 Layoff Preparation Workshop as well as requests from legislators asking that we review our rules and consider what changes we could make to minimize the adverse effects to agencies and services that are likely to result from the implementation of layoffs under the current rules.
