Web site provides insight to state agencies’ spending

A new Louisiana government Web site went online Wednesday that allows people to track how state agencies are spending taxpayers’ dollars, from the contracts they sign to salaries of appointed state agency officials.

The online database is the result of an executive order and a state law sponsored by Gov. Bobby Jindal.

The site can be accessed through the state Division of Administration’s Web page at http://www.doa.louisiana.gov, through the Louisiana governor’s main Web portal at http://www.la.gov or directly at http://wwwprd.doa.la.gov/latrac/index.cfm.

Louisiana becomes the eighth state to post state government expenditures online.
