Louisiana Homeland Security Office Monitoring Tropical Storm Fay

The Governor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness (GOHSEP) activated its Crisis Action Team (CAT) at 4:00 p.m. Friday, August 15, 2008 to monitor Tropical Storm Fay.

GOHSEP’s CAT team is a small team of employees who monitor weather conditions that could possibly threaten the state.

While Tropical Storm Fay is forecast to make landfall in Florida, Louisiana residents need to have a game plan in the event the storm changes direction. Review your emergency evacuation plan, check your hurricane preparedness kit and keep vehicles fueled.

“We are keeping a close eye on Tropical Storm Fay. We don’t want Louisiana residents to be caught off guard,” says GOHSEP Director Mark Cooper. “Even if this storm doesn’t impact Louisiana, we are willing to assist our neighboring state if necessary.”
