2008 Legislative Update

The Louisiana House of Representatives approved two LASERS sponsored bills; HB 229 Rep. Robideaux, amended in House Retirement on April 24, 2008 provides for 10 years at age 60 eligibility in the Corrections Secondary Component as authorized by an Attorney General opinion.

The House also approved HB 1078 by Rep Robideaux, which updates statutory provisions for computation of maximum benefits to be consistent with the Internal Revenue Code.

HB 229 has been referred to the Senate Retirement Committee and HB 1078 is pending introduction in the Senate.
