LASERS New Pension Administration System Goes Live

The Louisiana State Employees’ Retirement System (LASERS) is proud to announce the implementation of its new pension administration system, the State of Louisiana Retirement Information System, SOLARIS.

The new system replaces a 20 year old legacy system that is no longer supported by the vendor. It is the result of an effort that began in August 2004. SOLARIS has already been paying retiree benefits since July 2006, and as of March 10, 2008 now handles all active and retired member functions.

SOLARIS improves and streamlines LASERS business processes resulting in more accurate data and providing more timely information to LASERS members and State agencies. It reflects the commitment of the LASERS Board of Trustees and executive management to enhance and modernize retirement processing, customer service, information technology and staff performance in an efficient and cost effective manner.

In addition, new self-service Internet functions will be rolled out by July 2008, furnishing members and agencies with direct access to their information and new channels to communicate with LASERS.
