The age of a LASERS member and any possibility for an increase in salary should be heavily considered when a member is choosing between the Deferred Retirement Option Program (DROP) and the Initial Benefit Option (IBO).
DROP may not be the best choice for a member who may receive substantial annual salary increases. DROP could be the best choice for a member who does not anticipate a dramatic increase in salary.
